I grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, and after completing a degree in architecture I left for the United States to become a painter. I lived and painted in Provincetown, Massachusetts for nine years, then spent a year travelling Europe looking for new landscapes to paint. I settled in North Wales where the beautiful and diverse landscape offered a new direction and challenge for my painting.
I paint plein-air as it is a wonderful way of being in nature; looking, listening and creating. Painting is not only a means of self expression, it is a way of life.
